Romain Chapuis : dream wines come true

In our previous article, we took you to Buxy in the Côte Chalonnaise to meet Aline Beauné, one of the latest addition to the DIVINEO team of partner winemakers. Today, in the legendary village of Pommard, we meet Romain Chapuis, who has also joined the adventure as winemaker for the 2023 vintage.

AN INTERNATIONAL ADVENTURE

Romain Chapuis comes from a family of winemakers based in the Côte de Beaune. But it was to other horizons altogether that he chose to build experience as a winemaker. From Lebanon to Australia, Romain acquired valuable and diverse knowledge of vines and the art of winemaking. Armed with unique expertise, he returned to France in 2009.

BACK TO THE ROOTS

That same year, he and his brother Jean-Guillaume set up a wine merchant’s company in Pommard, called Chapuis & Chapuis. They also took over several hectares of vines. Romain thus returned to his roots, working with grapes from prestigious appellations. Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, Saint-Romain, Volnay… are just some of the great names to be found in this virtuoso’s repertoire.

BOLD AND ASSERTIVE CUVÉES

Romain Chapuis ‘s adventurous spirit continues to express itself in bold cuvées, such as natural sparkling wines and Vins de France with an assertive character. Extremely attentive to the quality of the grapes, Romain opts for a minimalist approach. With very little intervention and a great deal of patience and meticulousness, he brings to life wines that are sharp, fine and natural.

His approach, a blend of modernity and tradition, and his distinctive style immediately made us want to embark on the DIVINEO adventure.

Romain Chapuis, Aline Beauné and the Boursot family are DIVINEO’s new partner winemakers. They join Seiichi Saito Wang and Nicolas Perrault in vinifying grapes grown by Clodéric Prade. And the results of their work on the 2023 vintage will soon be revealed…
